Coz Carson, one of the hosts of the Internet-based media station US Talk Network, recently interviewed John and Linda Johnson about their daughter, LaVena. Carson is a former program director at 1690 WVON – The Talk of Chicago, and has been a frequent contributor on CNN Newsroom and CNN Headline News. This is a sad, unexcuseable situation. When I heard the interview with LaVena Johnson’s father on NPR I could not believe my ears. I was in Balad, Iraq at Camp Anaconda when her death occured. Her unit had a memorial service, which I sang a solo in her honor. I can remember how everyone was so shocked, and could not believe that someone could possibly commit suicide with a M16 rifle, and shot themself where she was supposedly shot. I pray that the truth is uncovered in order for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson to have closure, and to know that their daughter death has not gone unnoticed.
